And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. Mark 1: 17
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16: 15
As we begin our new year may we set out to follow our Lord more closely than ever before. May we abide with Him and in Him. May He have the reins of our lives, so that He can mold us into His own image. His promise is that if we will do so, then He will make us fishers of men. As such, we will fulfill the commission given us and enjoy the blessings of the promise made to Daniel: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12: 3
Proverbs 11: 30 says “the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” You may ask, why? I think the answer can be found in Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 2: 19 “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence or our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”
How much sweeter will heaven be when we are commended by our Lord for being obedient and when we see the shining faces of ones we helped bring to that great land.
