Can you be trusted

Have you ever considered the words spoken by God to Satan in Job 1:8 and 2:3;  “hast thou considered my servant Job”?  Think about those words for a moment and come face to face with what God is saying about Job.  He is telling Satan that Job can be trusted to stand firm no matter what temptation or trial is put in front of him!  Can the same be said of you or me?  Satan said Job only served God because God had blessed him with so much material wealth, but God replied with an open invitation for Satan to try Job as severely as he like.  Job will stand was God’s estimation.  Not only would Job stand but he would come out of the trial better than when he entered it.  While Job seems to have his dark moments when it seemed he might  fail, listen to him in the mist of those moments: ” But he knoweth the way that I take; when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.  My foot hath held to his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.  Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food”  ” Job 23:10-12.  What a statement!  I have enough trouble keeping his commandments when things are going well; also, I don’t know that I would be brave enough to say that I esteem his words more than my necessary food.  Perhaps I am afraid God would choose to let me prove it!  In a day when so many are preaching the sign of God’s blessings is high self-esteem and material possessions, it would pay us eternal dividends to consider Job.  The greatest compliment ever paid to him was when God said that he can be trusted; through thick and thin, good and bad, come what may, Job can be trusted!  Can we?
