Starting The Year By Giving God Thanks

The year 2014 was filled with many reasons to give thanks, especially for the answers to prayers in my own life as well as in the lives of others.  It has always amazed me how that when there is more outgo than income, God always sees that we have enough and enough to give to others as well. It is the answers to prayers in the life of others that I really want to focus on in this post.

My youngest daughter met a set of twin girls on a trip to Ghana to provide medical supplies and Bibles to the orphanage from which she adopted two children a few years  ago. The twins were HIV positive and left basically to die.  After trying to find someone to adopt them, she felt compelled by God to adopt them herself.  As I followed her story of what I will term an emergency adoption, my heart was stirred by the answers to prayer and the compassion that God has placed in her heart for these children.  I am amazed at the courage and faith that He has worked in her heart to take on such an endeavor, knowing when she left for Africa that many miracles would need to be worked to get all the paperwork and medical exams completed in the time she had to be there.  I was touched by the reports of ladies getting together to place these matters before the Lord, then following her story as God opened the doors.

The second story is from a missionary going to Ghana and the doors God opened for him during a trip in the month of December.  Over and over God brought him in contact with people that opened opportunities to minister at a military base, a school for the deaf, as well as housing and medical transportation for he and his son who have several medical conditions.  On top of that, God has provided so many other things that they will need when they arrive.

The greatest blessings are not always what God does for you, but what He does for others you love.  May the Lord be praised!  And may He do even greater things in 2015!
